Classmates of the graduating class of 1948 from St. Joseph High School (present site of Rayne Catholic Elementary) enjoyed a luncheon reunion on Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011, at Chef Roy’s Frog City Café in Rayne.
Planning the 63-year reunion were Hilda T. Haure, Allie S. Caillier and Matilda T. Johnson.
The 11 classmates in attendance and their guests enjoyed a Dutch treat for the noon-time gathering.
Classmates in attendance were Philip Habetz, Dolores Z. Habetz, Allie S. Caillier, Warren Guidry, Gilbert Hains, Rose Marie O. John, Matilda T. Johnson, Hilda T. Haure, Maridel L. LaBauve, Jeanette N. Reed and Charles Picard.
Classmates unable to attend were Bertha H. Owens, Rena B. Leeper and Patricia Zaunbrecher.
Spouses in attendance were Elsie Besse, Jeanette Hains, Betty Picard, Jasper Johnson and Curney Haure.
Classmates attended from Rayne, Lake Charles and Morgan City.
Remembered during the reunion were deceased classmates, including Dorothy G. Borne, Dave Besse, Dorothy T. Bonvillian, Calvin Caillier, Geraldine H. Heard, Joseph Hebert, Jeraldine B. Larriviere, Isabelle B. McBride and Joseph Trahan.
Class officers were president Geraldine Heinen, vice president Jeraldine Broussard, secretary Patricia Zaunbrecher and treasurer Warren Guidry.
Class song was “Now is the Hour,” and gladiola was the class flower. Class colors were silver and green, and the class motto was “Not the End, But the Beginning.”
