BREAUX BRIDGE – Investigation continues in the fatal police shooting of a 17-year-old girl Sunday night.

Daraneisha Harris was shot by an officer after she rammed several vehicles, including a police cruiser head-on, and hit a pedistrian while fleeing a disturbance.

Witnesses said Harris was involved in a fight involving family members. As she left that altercation, ultimately fatal events unfolded.

“She then placed her vehicle in reverse, traveled backwards, struck a parked car, placed it in drive, drove through a ditch, struck a bystander (who had minor injuries), and then another vehicle that was parked in a driveway,” said State Trooper Stephen Hammons.

The officer then got out of the vehicle and shot Harris.
