According to investigating troopers, at 6:15 a.m., 30-year-old Eddie Ray Williams of Opelousas, was driving a 1992 Ford truck south on US Highway 167.
Williams for unknown reasons drove off the right side of the road, struck an embankment and a tree.
Williams was not restrained and was ejected from the vehicle.
The crash remains under investigation.
