State Police said Rebecca Cooper, 24, of Raceland was a passenger in a pickup truck struck head-on by one driven by Jon Mollohan, 43, of Magnolia, Texas.
Mollohan was driving his truck south on LA 1 when he tried to pass two vehicles in a no-passing zone in a slight curve.
Dustin Pitre, 22, of Raceland driving a pickup north-bound tired to avoid the collision but could not. Mollohan, who was belted, died.
Both drivers and a passenger in the Texas truck had minor injuries.
