Rayne Police Chief Carroll Stelly Tuesday announced two Rayne men have been charged in the recent burglaries of several Rayne homes.

On June 6, Rayne officers responded to a domestic disturbance in progress.

During the course of the investigation, officers located and identified property reported stolen from an area home.

Mitchell Romero, a 29 year old white male, was arrested for Domestic Battery and booked into the Rayne Police Department. Officers interviewed Romero concerning area burglaries and he confessed to participating in three Rayne burglaries and one unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling.

During the investigation, officers identified Corey Soileaux, a 17 year old white male, currently in jail on prior burglary charges, as a suspect in an unsolved residential burglary.

Soileaux is suspected of stealing several firearms from an area home before Mitchell Romero sold the firearms to a local firearms dealer.

Detectives are in the process of recovering the stolen firearms and also property that was sold to area merchants. This property also includes a large amount of silver.

If you have any information on the location of stolen property or other criminal acts, please call the Rayne Police Department or your local crime stoppers number.
