Lake Charles, La.: United States Attorney Stephanie A. Finley announced today

that a Chief Warrant Officer with the U.S. Coast Guard pled guilty before U.S. District

Judge Patricia Minaldi in federal court in Lake Charles, to possession of child pornography

charges.

According to court documents, an undercover investigation revealed that Michael

Robert Gleason, 50, formerly of Lake Charles, LA, was using internet peer to peer websites

to download and possess child pornography. At sentencing, Gleason faces a term of

imprisonment of up to ten years. Sentencing in this matter has been set for October 25,

2012 in Lake Charles, LA.

The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Special Agent

Eric Link and Louisiana State Police Master Trooper Michael Hebert. The case is being

prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Daniel J. McCoy.

FOR RECEIVING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

Defendant receives lifetime supervised release

Lafayette, La.: United States Attorney Stephanie A. Finley announced today that

Lester Hugh Golden, 31, of Sulphur, La., was sentenced to serve 17 ½ years in federal

prison for possession of child pornography. The sentence was handed down by U.S.

District Judge Richard T. Haik in federal court in Lafayette, La. In addition to the prison

term, the judge also sentenced Golden to a lifetime of supervised release.

Golden pleaded guilty in February of 2012, to receiving child pornography.

According to court documents previously filed with the court, an undercover investigation

revealed that the defendant attempted to join a child pornography website multiple times.

During an FBI search at Golden’s residence, the defendant confessed to downloading child

pornography from the internet on numerous occasions. A forensic examination of the

defendant’s computer revealed 1,600 images and 75 videos of child pornography.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Lake Charles

Resident Agency. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney John Luke

Walker.

Both cases were brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative

to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched by the

Department of Justice. Led by United States Attorneys' Offices and the Criminal Division's

Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal,

state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit
