CROWLEY - Retired Navy Airman Aaron Hamilton was the victim of a drunk driver early Friday morning. Investigators said Joshua Jackson was the driver, who is now charged with his fifth DWI. Jackson led Rayne Police on a high speed chase through Rayne before crashing into Hamilton's car, killing him and injuring his passenger.

A person can only be charged with a higher degree of DWI based on the previous convictions. In this case, Jackson has 2 convictions. He has a total of three pending charges. Each of the three pending charges are third offense DWI. If Jackson is convicted on each of the later three DWI charges, then he would be looking at a fifth offense DWI. Everything is pending each individual DWI after the first two convictions.

Jackson will be charged with third offense DWI until other cases are closed out in court.
