UPDATE: Iota shooting POI turns himself in

IOTA - The person of interest wanted in connection with a shooting that took place Saturday afternoon in the town of Iota, in Acadia Parish, has turned himself in to authorities.

According to Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon, Jarrett M. Andrews, 23, 1000 block of Lyman Street in Rayne was booked into the Acadia Parish Sheriff at approximately 11:30 p.m. and charged with first degree murder. His bond was set at $350,000 by District Judge Kristian Earles.

The victim is now being identified as Nathaniel Wiltz, 23, of the 200 block of Section Street in Rayne.

The Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the investigation by the Acadia Parish Coroner’s Office and Iota Police Department.
