CARENCRO – The sound of a grinding head-on collision echoed across the morning stillness Sunday.

State Police said a Shreveport man was killed when his car was hit head-on on the Canton Highway just south of Gloria Switch.

A pickup driven by Buddy Goater, 58, of Carencro was heading south on La. 93 when it crossed the center line and hit a north-bound car driven by Curtis Chiles, 33, of Shreveport.

Chiles was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected in the head-on collision.

Investigation continues.
