Catherine Michelle Bercier and David Joseph Landry were united in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony at half past seven o’clock in the evening on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Jennings. The Nuptial Mass was celebrated by the Reverend Bryce Sibley. Concelebrating were the Reverends Kevin Bordelon, Conley Bertrand, Keanan Brown, Marian Joseph Bui, OCD, and Msgr. Charles Dubois.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Edwin L. Bercier III of Roberts Cove. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Gladys V. Newman and the late Mr. Ganer L. Newman, Jr. of Rayne, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Edwin L. Bercier, Jr. of Rayne. Catherine received a Bachelor of Science degree in Theology from Franciscan University of Steubenville, Steubenville, Ohio, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and Louisiana State University School of Dentistry in New Orleans.

The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Danny J. Landry of Moss Bluff. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Dalton A. Landry of Jennings, Mrs. Verna H. Broussard and the late Mr. Pervis J. Broussard of Kaplan. David received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and is currently a senior medical student at St. George’s University School of Medicine.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a traditional floor length gown embellished by silver embroidery and Swarovski crystals on sparkle organza over ivory satin. The bodice featured a sweetheart neckline complemented by off-the-shoulder cap sleeves, while the skirt was gathered slightly at the hip flowing into an a-line silhouette. The back of her gown featured a soft v-neckline and satin covered buttons with a semi-cathedral train. To complete her attire the bride wore a gathered illusion cathedral length veil and carried a bouquet of assorted flowers which included white roses, hydrangeas, ivy, spider lilies, and a handmade Swarovski crystal rosary.

Theresa-Margaret Bercier, sister of the bride, served as Maid of Honor. Honorary Maids of Honor were Christine Bercier Stearns, Suzanne T. Bercier, Mary Bercier Mayeux, Bridget M. Bercier, Anne-Clare Bercier, all sisters of the bride; Lenore Villadiego Bercier, sister-in-law of the bride, and Sarah Y. Sarsfield, cousin and friend of the bride. Flower girls were Evelyn E. Bercier, Lily K. Stearns, and Dorinda C. Watson.

Dane A. Landry, brother of the groom, served as Best Man. Groomsmen were Dayton J. Landry, Donovan D. Landry, brothers of the groom; Dr. Johnathan J. Ledet, Dr. Shane G. Guillory, William H. Ferguson, Nick A. Dufrene, friends of the groom, and Anthony J. Bercier, friend of the groom and brother of the bride. Ring bearers were Samuel P. Mayeux and Edwin L. Bercier, V.

Ushers were Jason J. Cook, friend of the groom; Dr. Edwin L. Bercier, IV, and John Paul Bercier, brothers of the bride.

Musical selections were provided by string members of the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra; organist, Mrs. Charlotte Hines; trumpeter, Joshua Rozas; vocalists, Corliss Smith, Anne-Clare Bercier, and Bridget M. Bercier.

Readers included Dr. August Gallo, friend and mentor of the groom; Christopher E. Watson, brother-in-law of the groom; Darlene Landry Watson, sister of the groom; Peter D. Mayeux, brother-in-law of the bride; and Dr. Zebediah A. Stearns, brother-in-law of the bride.

Gift bearers were Claire E. Stearns, Jori M. Bercier, Caroline P. Stearns, all nieces of the bride; and Daphne A. Watson and Daylen M. Watson, nieces of the groom. Alter servers were Damon C. Watson, nephew and godchild of the groom; David J. Stearns, nephew and godchild of the bride; and William P. Mayeux, nephew of the bride.

A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents at the Jennings Country Club the night before the wedding.

After the ceremony, a reception was held at the Grand Marais in Jennings.

Following a honeymoon to Destin, Fla, the couple will reside in Long Branch, New Jersey.
