Vivian was born in Mermentau and lived there for nearly 50 years before moving to Lafayette. She was the daughter of the late Sidney and Louise Pousson Guidry and wife of the late Chester E. Broussard. Vivian was a homemaker and devoted her life to raising her children and taking care of her husband. She enjoyed serving her church, crocheting and search word puzzles. She served as a lector and Eucharistic minister at St. Leo and Holy Cross Catholic Churches, was a member of the Greenhouse and participated in many of its volunteer activities. She volunteered with the Bellsouth Pioneers by making healing blankets and was awarded Volunteer of the Year. She made nap mats and Hug-A-Bears for Myrtle Place Elementary kindergarten students. She was an outstanding seamstress all her life sewing for her family as a young girl and then working for years at Emile Joseph’s Clothing Store. She continued to sew for many until this past year. She taught sewing to her great grandchildren, Girl Scout troops and made a great effort to pass on her skills to others. She participated and led many rosary groups over the span of her life. Vivian was known by many at Holy Cross Church as “The Hat Lady” by always wearing beautiful hats to church. She always looked forward to going to church as often as possible. She also loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Vivian was so dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Leaving behind to cherish her memories are her three children, Ronnie Broussard and wife Nannette of Alexandria, Mona Davies and husband Henry of Metairie and Nell Leger and husband Lonnie of Dubai, UAE; her seven grandchildren, Lisa Boudreaux, Darren Guidry, Jill Judice, Mika Broussard, Lance Broussard, Brent Leger and Marc Leger; and 20 great grandchildren.
Vivian now rests in heaven with her parents, Sidney and Louise; husband, Chester; four brothers, Chester, Wilfred, Clifton and Ravis Guidry; and two sisters, Betty LeJeune Hardey and Velma Romero.
