Church Point –– Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 31, 2012, at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point for Walter “Brother“ Savoy, 81.
Mr. Savoy, a native and long-time resident of Church Point, died at 2:24 p.m. Monday, May 28, 2012, at Sacred Heart Hospital-Emerald Coast; Miramar Beach, Fla.
Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with interment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery on Highway 35 north of Church Point.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Dean (Savoy) Savoy of Church Point; two sons, Kurt Savoy and wife, Rachel, of Church Point and Scotty Savoy and wife, Anna, of Brighton, Tenn.; two daughters, Carolyn Savoy of Church Point and Donna (Savoy) Alleman and husband, Gene, of Rayne.; six grandchildren, Sami Hamzah, John Kurt Savoy, Jr. and Cody Savoy, Cassie and Hailey Shepard and Amanda Markson; and two great-grandchildren, Jada Hamzah and Hunter Savoy.
The family requested visiting hours be observed from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30, and continue from 8:00 a.m. Thursday until the time of the services.
A recitation of the Rosary was held at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30, by Deacon Bryne Winn.
A U.S. Army veteran of the World War II Era, Mr. Savoy worked in the oilfield industry and at Church Point Wholesale until retirement. He will be honored with a Military Graveside Ceremony at interment.
Arrangements are being handled by Guidry Funeral Home, Inc. Church Point.

My deepest sympathies to all of you. I know in my heart that he is now catching up with old friends, embracing family that have moved on before him, and dancing in the Light with the angels.
