Ward Five’s fire calls noted

The Ward Five Fire Protection District of Evangeline Parish covers the communities of Turkey Creek, Bayou Chicot, St. Landry and Clear Water. Here are the calls during April for Ward Five:

•On April 1, at 5:25 p.m., eight firefighters/first responders went to a motor vehicle accident on U.S. 167 at its intersection with St. Landry Highway. Four trucks responded.

At 7:49 p.m., four trucks and 11 firefighters went to the 1000 block of Cedar Lane in Turkey Creek to assist with a search for a lost child.

•On April, four trucks and five firefighters traveled to the 4000 block of U.S. 167 to fight a grass fire at 3:32 p.m.

•On April 11, a vehicle accident on the Turkey Creek Highway was reported at 10:20 a.m. Three trucks and five firefighters/first responders were sent to the scene to administer medical assistance.

•A grass fire in a wooded area April 15, caused some concern along the Chicot Park Road near the St. Landry Highway. Two trucks and three firefighters responded.

•On April 16, five trucks and eighth firefighters were called to the Mabel Thompson Road at 3:27 p.m. for a grass fire.

•On April 21, eight firefighters, along with six trucks, responded to a grass fire at 1:23 p.m. on the Chicot Park Road.

•On April 28, at 2 p.m. four trucks and seven firefighters responded to the 1000 block of Leisure Lane for an electrical equipment fire.
