JOHNSON BAYOU – The Northside Christian Warriors rallied from a six-point deficit in the fourth quarter to tie the game and then outlasted Johnson Bayou in three overtimes to slip away with a dramatic 99-97 victory Friday evening.

The victory sent the Warriors to 10-10 overall and 2-0 in District 7-C play.

“This was a huge win for us,” said NCS coach Glenn Daigle. “Our district is pretty good so to pick up a victory on the road like that is pretty big.”

Ty Wilson connected on a 3-pointer in the fourth quarter and scored five points in the frame to help the Warriors tie the game and send it to the first overtime.

From there, the Warriors led by as many as five in the first extra frame before Johnson Bayou rallied back to knot the game at 72.

The Rebels took control in the second overtime and jumped out to a five-point lead before Tracy Wilridge’s 3-pointer tied the game (83-83), sending it into the third and final overtime.

In the final frame, Joseph Trahan connected on a free throw with five seconds remaining to seal the victory.

Kade Miller, Wilridge and Wilson did most of the damage for the Warriors. The trio combined for 68 of the Warriors’ 99 points on the night and 25 of their 35 in overtime.

“Kade, Tracy and Ty each had big nights for us,” said Daigle. “Those three guys were key for us.”

Miller finished the night with a game-high 27 points while Wilridge had 22 and Wilson had 19.

Also contributing in the victory were Trahan and Nick Zaunbrecher with 11 points each and Nathan Zeller with nine.

The Warriors will travel to Starks tonight to close out the first round of district play.

The Northside Christain Lady Warriors outscored Johnson Bayou 32-26 in the second half to slip away with their first district win of the season.

The Lady Warriors improved to 7-8 overall and 1-1 in league play with the victory.

Natalie Hayes and Madisyn Clement each scored 13 points in the victory while Madeline Gatte had 10. Zoie Hanagriff added seven points, Brooke Standord had five and Kathryn Zaunbrecher had two. Cydni Crozier and Sydni Guidry rounded out the Lady Warriors offensive attack with one point each.

HATHAWAY 68

MIDLAND REBELS 65

HATHAWAY – The Midland Rebels drained 10 3-pointers and had four players score in double figures Friday evening.

But in the end, it wasn’t enough.

Hathaway rallied from an early deficit and drained a 3-pointer of their own in the final seconds to shock the Rebels on the Hornets’ home court.

Midland fell to 19-7 overall and 2-1 in district play with the loss.

The Rebels led for most of the contest before the Hornets went on a tear in the fourth quarter and led by as many as five midway through the frame.

The Rebels rallied back to tie the game at 65-65 on a pair of buckets by Alan Vondenstein and Jake Gautreaux before Hathaway’s eventual game-winning long ball.

Gautreaux canned five 3-pointers on the night and finished with a team-high 19 points. Randy Primeaux added three shots from beyond the arch and had 16 points.

Alan Vondenstein and Devin Gautreaux followed with 12 and 10 points, respectively, Darren Arceneaux scored six and Stephen Primeaux had two.

HATHAWAY 62

LADY REBELS 45

HATHAWAY – The Hathaway Lady Hornets jumped out to a 20-6 lead in the first quarter and never looked back in convincing victory over Midland Friday evening.

The Lady Rebels fell to 13-15 overall and 1-2 in district play with the loss.

Nicole Kraut led Midland with 10 points while Kristen Breaux, Katie Woods and Melody Hebert each scored nine. Bethany LeJeune and Brooke Comeaux each followed with three points and Elizabeth Istre rounded out the scoring with two points.

Midland will be in action again tonight when they play host to Grand Lake.
