Sonnie was born on May 7, 1934, he was 77 years old. He passed away on Feb. 20, 2012 in Nacogdoches, Texas. He had been a resident of Texas for several years. Prior to this he lived in Crowley and Youngsville.
He is survived by his two children, Christien F. Breaux (Mier) of Crowley and Kyle Joseph Breaux (and wife Lorraine); eight grandchildren, Brannon MIer (wife Missy) of Egan, Kendall Mier of Monroe, Misty Mier (Mark) of Branch, Justin Mier (Melinda) of Crowley, Kade Mier of Crowley, Jase Guidry (Jazzy) of Crowley, Amy Rae Breaux (Shad) of Iota and Heidi Christine Breaux (Jesse) of Rayne; 11 great grandchildren, Jada and Isabella Mier of Egan, Tayvia and Slye Mier of Crowley, Kylan Bier of Morse, Mia Mier and Tanner Bonin of Branch, Cami Rae Delhomme of Iota and Alec, Palie and Jaci Guidry of Crowley; two brothers, Eddie Joseph Breaux (wife Elgene) and Wilbert (T-Snook) Joseph Breaux; and one sister, Ludy Belle Breaux Bourque.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin Breaux and Louise F. Gautreaux Breaux; brothers, Joe Clemente Breaux, Leroy Simon Breaux and Curtis Joseph Breaux; sisters, Edna Breaux Simon, Rita Grace Breaux Bourque and Emma Lee Breaux Duhon; and several nieces and nephews and his loving mother-in-law and friend Nettie Marie Nugier.
Sonnie served his country in the U.S. Air Force in Alaska and Georgia. He had a love for horses, he was owner and trainer and cattle ranching also. He coached for the Crowley Recreation Department, football and basketball for boys and girls, softball and basketball in the town of Youngsville. Prior to that, Youngsville’s youth never had a Peanut League.
Sonnie enjoyed it when people loved his cooking. He brought Cajun cooking to Texas. He sponsored and cooked for the Multicultural Fest in Nacogdoches every year. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He attended Cowboy’s Full Gospel Church in Nacogdoches that he enjoyed prior to his death.
His true love of life was getting together and making memories with his family and friends.
The memorial will be conducted by Justin Mier, grandson of Mr. Breaux.
