Fishing took place Saturday between 1 a.m. and 6 p.m. with boundaries including Texas to the west and Mississippi to the east. All Wildlife and Fisheries, State and Local Regulations were observed.
Weigh-in took place between 3-6 p.m. at the LSU Ag Building in Crowley with cash prizes awarded in four categories: red fish, speckled trout, flounder and black drum.
Top fishermen for the day were:
Flounder - 1st place Burt Smith 2.53, 2nd place Byron Gossen 2.39, 3rd place Byron Gossen 2.12;
Drum - 1st place Russell Freeman 3.53; 2nd place Terry Van Epps 1.73;
Red Fish - 1st place Brian Howell 7.10; 2nd place John Heikamp; 3rd place Robert Kuffer 6.87;
Speck - 1st place Marty Menard 2.28; 2nd place Mitch Meaux 1.93; Zack Pulling 1.87.
Door prizes were also given away after all the fish were weighed in. Barbecue hamburgers and refreshments were provided to all participants.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the many events and programs the Acadiana Sportsmen’s League sponsor throughout the year.
