The Rayne High Boys Basketball Team is off to a slow start for the 2011-2012 season with a number of starters beginning roundball just following a successful football campaign.

The Wolves traveled to Crowley High Tuesday where they dropped a close 65-59 contest.

The Gents took a quick 25-10 lead in the very first quarter of the game, but the Wolves tightened things up at half, 32-24.

A close 45-42 third quarter saw Rayne with a chance, but Crowley held on for the 65-59 win.

Leading scores for the Wolves was Lacy Granger with 21 points, followed by Charles Jones with a dozen, Michael Henry at eight and Dannie Harmon with seven.

During action last weekend in the Lafayette High Tournament, progress showed but the Wolves came up short against Acadiana (58-42), Beau Chene (52-48) and Crowley High (65-61).

The Lady Wolves traveled to Iota Tuesday where the Lady Bulldogs claimed a 70-38 win.

Rayne High was led by B. Gibson with nine points.
