Woman allegedly attacked, pelted with rocks by trio of men, including her brother

Several men were arrested and charged with fighting after a trio of young men allegedly attacked a young woman; one of them being the victim’s brother.

Eunice Police received a call shortly after 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, police received a call from East Ardoin Street about a person being jumped by three males.

According to police reports, Jessica Loera, 21, received a threatening text message before a vehicle drove up to her house and three young men, including her brother, allegedly got out, stripped off their shirts, and began pelting her with rocks.

The report stated that the young woman’s brother, Joshua Loera, allegedly hit her with an object, knocking her down.

The report goes on to state that the girl’s father, Juan Loera, witnessed the attack and allegedly fought off the three men, hitting his son with a baseball bat.

Witness reports conflict as to whether Joshua hit his father with the bat first.

The three fled before police arrived. Both the young woman and her father were reportedly bruised. The young woman was taken to Acadian Medical Center to have her injuries examined.

Juan Loera, 53, of 105 E. Ardoin Street, Eunice, was charged with disturbing the peace by fighting and released on summons.

According to reports, Joshua Loera later contacted police and was urged to surrender to authorities.

Police later located the trio in a woman’s apartment on Faquetigue Street. The woman was brought to the station but later released after investigators determined she had no involvement in the incident.

Arrested were:

Joshua Loera, 23, 105 E. Ardoin St., charged with disturbing the peace by fighting and resisting an officer;

Ryan Courville, 18, 105 E. Ardoin St., charged with disturbing the peace by fighting;

and Jacob Courville, 17, 213 Lafayette St., charged with disturbing the peace by fighting.

Ryan Courville was released on summons.

Witness accounts differ as to what precipitated the alleged attack, but police said the victim was involved in a relationship with one of her alleged attackers.
