AMITE – A woman who said she listed to voices in her head before killing a motel manager will spend 40 years in prison.

Dist. Judge Ray Chutz sentenced Joyce Myers, 36, on Tuesday.

She pleaded guilty last week to manslaughter in the stabbing death of Eugene Lee two years ago.

She was initially charged with second-degree murder.

Myers told detectives she attacked and killed the man because voices in her head said he had put cameras in her room at a Kentwood motel.
