World-renowned Elvis Presley tribute artist Donny Edwards will bring his act showcasing the King of Rock n Roll’s entire career to Crowley, LA  for a one night only show on January 29th at 7 p.m. at the Rice Theatre. Tickets for the show, which also features Roy Orbison tribute artist Wayne King and the ultimate tribute band 'Fever', are priced at $20, and will be available at the Crowley Flower Shop on a first come, first served basis or advanced reserved by calling 281-713-8140. Edwards, who was raised in Texas, has garnered numerous Elvis tribute artist awards over the last seven years, and is considered one of the most sought after tribute artists working today. His credits include national television appearances on ABC’s “The Next Best Thing” and “Monday Night Football,” as well as appearances and performances with Elvis collaborators including The Jordanaires and D.J. Fontana. For Edwards, like many Elvis fans, his love of the King is a lifelong affair. “I guess for me it started when I was pretty young. Ever since I was a kid I just remember listening to him and loving listening to him,” Edwards said. “My parents said that when I was 2 years old they would play Elvis records and I would shake my leg kind of like him. I had that intuition to move like him for some reason.” Edwards spent much of his teen years and early adulthood being compared to Elvis, but it was in 2002, when he won an Elvis look-alike contest in Lake Jackson, that he began to wonder if it could be a career. Within a year he was playing Vegas and booking shows around the country. Since then he has performed around the United States and the world, including shows in Memphis hosted by Elvis Presley Enterprises, and is ranked as one of the greatest of the King’s tribute artists, performing approximately 200 shows a year. Edwards’ act covers the full spectrum of Elvis’ career, from the hip-swiveling 1950s to the jumpsuit-wearing 1970s, and everything in between. “I’d say Elvis around 1970-1971 is my favorite era of Elvis,” Edwards said. “He’s not only got great energy, but he’s also got great power by now. He’s really presenting a lot of power. Elvis was that perfect combination of power and smoothness.” The two and a half hour show will feature Edwards performing, in full costume, a number of Elvis hits, including “Hound Dog,” “Suspicious Minds,” “Don’t Be Cruel,” “Viva Las Vegas” and “Burning Love.” “This will be the first time the Rice Theater  has an Elvis tribute artist of the magnitude of Donny Edwards,” promoter Steve Fountain said. “He is truly considered the number one Elvis tribute artist in the world today.  For Edwards, his shows are all about paying tribute to the King as though he were still alive and sitting in the front row. “I go in as a dedicated Elvis fan. My mindset was I want to go in there as if Elvis was in the audience,” Edwards said. “By doing that, I think it’s allowed me to grow, to become stronger and put a lot of dedication into it. When you love something you do, you’re always going to put everything you have into it. I think that’s the main reason why I’ve gone as high as I have in a short time. Staying true to Elvis I think is what paid off.” For more information, call (281) 713-8140 or visit  www.donnyedwardslive.com
