ZACHARY -- A man being driven around with a high-powered rifle allegedly shot and killed another at a trailer park here.

East Baton Rouge detectives said Kenneth Nixon, 26, of Samuels Road had an on-going feud with the victim, Jerrick Spears, 23, and two other men.

He spotted them while being driven around by his brother Jeremy, 28, on Sunday in the trailer park where he resides.

Kenneth Nixon, it is alleged, then opened fire with a .223 rifle, hitting Spears but missing the other two men. Spears died at a nearby hospital.

The nature of the disagrteement between the alleged shooter and his alleged targets was not disclosed.

Kenneth Nixon is charged with one count of first-degree murder, two counts of attempted first-degree murder, and convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

Jeremy Nixon, of Finch St., in Baton Rouge is charged with one count principal to first-degree murder, two counts principal attempted first-degree murder, and two outstanding traffic warrants for no driver’s license and careless operation.
