Police Chief David Courtney said he could not give specific details on what role the woman played in her husband’s death on May 12 for fear of compromising the investigation.
Sheree Monte, 52, is charged in the death of Michael Monte, 58.
Zachary officers received a call Thursday about 11:40 p.m., reporting an attempted suicide at the Monte residence.
When officers arrived, they found the husband with a single gunshot wound to the head, Courtney said.
“According to witness statements and evidence found at the scene, the detectives did not believe the incident was a suicide,” said Courtney, “a warrant was later issued for Sheree Monte’s arrest.”
According to Courtney, Monte’s husband was not terminally ill.
