JENNINGS - It is with great sadness that the family of Leah Meyers, 83, announces her passing on Sunday evening at the American Legion Hospital of Crowley. Funeral services will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings for Mrs. Meyers on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at 12 noon with Deacon Mike Tramel officiating. The family request visitation be observed on Wednesday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of her services. A rosary will be recited that morning at 10a.m. Mrs. Meyers will be laid to rest in the Estherwood Cemetery.

Leah was born in Estherwood to the late Homer & Olida Trahan Leger in July of 1927. She was a homemaker and devoted her life to raising her children and taking care of her husband. She was very devoted to her family who will cherish her memory. Leah enjoyed sewing, gardening, watching TV, and going for rides. She also loved taking care of her grandchildren for whom she spoiled so much. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

Leaving behind to mourn her loss and cherish her memories are her beloved children, Jerry Istre, Rita Credeur and husband Jessie, and Olida Marie Istre all of Crowley; and her 10 beautiful grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Olida; husband, Clesmay Istre; son, Terry Michael Istre; grandson, Clifford ‘Joey’ Chiasson; and brother, Obrey Leger.
