Memorial services set for Ann B. Richard

Memorial services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monday, December 13, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. for Ann Bienvenu Richard, 72, who died Tuesday, December 7, 2010, at her residence in Rayne.

Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery #2, Rayne, LA.

Surviving are one daughter, Lisa Hawkins and husband, Sam, of Rayne; one son, James L. “Jim” Richard II, and wife, Elaine Hudson, of Carencro, LA; two grandsons, James L.”Jimmy” Richard III of Carencro, and John Barret Richard of Carencro; two brothers, B.I. Moody, III and wife, Thelma “Tee” Hebert, of Crowley, LA, and Douglas A. “Buddy” Moody and wife, Claire Boriskie, of Lafayette, LA; one sister-in-law, Carol Schmidt Moody of Lafayette, LA; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephew and great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. “Jimmy” Richard; parents, George Louis Bienvenu, Jr. and Mable Amy Moody Bienvenu; and one brother, Charles A. Moody.

She was born Thursday, July 14, 1938 in Rayne, LA, daughter of the late George Louis Bienvenu, Jr. and the late Mabel Amy Moody Bienvenu.

Mrs. Richard attended St. Joseph Catholic School and graduated from Rayne High School in 1956. She attended Southwestern Louisiana Institute, now UL Lafayette, before marrying James L. “Jimmy” Richard in 1958. After a career in property management in Texas, she returned to Louisiana in 1975 where she and her husband became franchisees for Mr. Gatti’s Pizza and Taco Bell. Upon retirement in 1990 she returned to Rayne.

In addition to charity work, she enjoyed cooking, bouree games, shopping and lunch with the girls. She volunteered her time and talents to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne as well as driving friends to the VA hospital in Jennings for appointments.

A special thanks goes to the staff and personnel of Hospice of Acadiana. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St., Ste 200, Lafayette, LA 70503.

Friends will be received at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rayne, LA. Monday, December 13, 2010, from 12:00 noon until service.
