JENNINGS - It is with great sadness that the family of Gregory Wayne Crochet, age 64 of Egan, announces his passing Saturday evening at Lafayette General Medical Center while surrounded by his family he loved so dearly. Funeral services will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Wednesday, January 5, 2010 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Kevin Hall officiating. The Crochet family requests visitation be observed on Tuesday, Jan. 4th from 4 p.m. - 9 p.m. and resume on Wednesday at 8 a.m. until the time of his services. Gregory will be laid to rest in the Elroy Crochet Family Cemetery which is attached to the Miller French Cemetery in Gotte’s Cove.

Gregory Wayne was born in Iota to Dorothy McFarlain and the late Roy Crochet in November of 1946. He worked as a service hand for Entergy Fishing and Rental. Gregory had an amazing personality and was loved by so many people. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, gardening, and woodworking. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

Leaving behind to cherish his memories are his mother and step father, Dorothy and Lloyd Wright of Iota; his wife, Fran LeBoeuf Crochet of Egan; five sons, Scotty Crochet and wife Elfreda of Phoenix, Ar., Chad Crochet of Phoenix, Ar., Corey Crochet of Iota, Broc Crochet of New Mexico, and Timothy Parsley of Jennings; two daughters, Sheli Crochet of Iota and Leslie Crochet of Buffalo, N.Y.; six stepchildren, Lance Guidry of Jennings, Sadie Thibodeaux of Atlanta, Ga., Taylor Hebert of Egan, Kaitlin Hebert also of Egan, Shandi Guidry of Jennings, and Kerry LeBoeuf also of Jennings; two sisters, Sharon Clement of Lafayette and Connie Paxson of Kinder; nine grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Now Gregory rests in Heaven with his father, Roy.
