ST. MARTINVILLE -- What a man and his juvenile help were going to do with an elk they allegedly killed on a exotic animal farm is not known.

The juvenile from St. Martinville and David Bryan Breaux, Jr. 21, of Destrehan allegedly trespassed on the property and killed the elk. They are also suspects in the killing of an axis deer and some hogs earlier.

The Sheriff’s Office received a complaint from the farm owner who allegedly found the poachers in possession of the $10,000 animal’s carcass at Arnaudville facility on Sunday.

The deputies seized two shotguns along with a four-wheeler.

Detectives were following a lead that the four-wheeler being used by the suspects might have been one that was stolen from a residence in the Delcambre sometime last year.

Breaux was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center and the juvenile into the St. Martin Parish Juvenile Detention Center, both on suspicion of four counts of criminal trespass, five counts of aggravated cruelty to animals, simple criminal damage to property under $500, simple criminal damage to property over $500, four counts theft under $500.

Breaux is also facing a charge of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.
