James Dewey Mosley was born on January 5, 1924 in Galveston, Texas to the late Viola Brown and Dewey Mosley. He was baptized at an early age and was a member of Shiloh AME church of Galveston. Later in life he met and married Warbell Guidry and they moved to Louisiana.
He had a wonderful personal Christian stewardship and was a very devoted member of Cunningham Methodist CME Church of Rayne. James Dewey "JD" gave back to the community by sharing his musical talent with persons from near and far. He was a laborer in the agriculture industry for many years with Edmonson and Duhe Rice Mills.
Mourning his departure, but thanking God while cherishing precious memories is his wife of 67 years, Warbell Guidry Mosley of Rayne; two daughters, Ella Faye (Eddie Sr.) Young and Judy (Anatole) Leday both of Rayne; four sons, Lionel (Mary Lou) Mosley of Lafayette, Wardell (Harriett) Mosley, Torey Leblanc both of Rayne; daughter-in-law Melveola Mosley of Houston; two brothers, Lionel (Frankie) Mosley of Marina, Calif. and Arthur (Geneva) Mosley of Texas City, Texas; three sisters, Annie Mosley McBeth, Betty Mosley Thomas and Flora Bell Thomas all of Galveston; 22 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends that loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Viola and Dewey Mosley; one son, Charles Mosley; three sisters, Eldora Mitchell, Bertha Allen, and Ella Faye Mosley; two brothers, Franklin Mosley and A D Mosley.
Visitation will be held Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Cunningham C.M.E. Church from 8 am until time of services.
