Three-war veteran

KAPLAN -- Services will be Thursday for three-wars veteran Ulysses Trahan. He died Feb. 15 at age 93.

Trahan was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.

After retirement he became a nurse at Kaplan Health Care and Abbeville General.

Survivors include his wife Marguerite, a son and two daughters.

Arrangements were by Vincent.



Decorated nurse


BATON ROUGE -- Services will be Friday for decorated veteran and nursing instructor Pearl Domma. She died Feb. 15 at age 95.

Domma graduated at the head of her Our Lady of the Lake Hospital School of Nursing class. She was a four-year Army veteran of World War II who participated in the D-Day invasion and Operation Market Garden.

After the war she attended USL and received her master’s from Emory. She taught nursing in Baton Rouge and in Lafayette.



Marianites teacher


OPELOUSAS -- Services for former educator Sister Evelyn Eason, also known as Sister Simeon, will be Friday in New Orleans. She died Feb. 15 at age 90.

She took perpetual vows in the Marianites of Holy Cross in 1944 and taught elementary and secondary grades in schools including Eunice and Ville Platte.

She was library at Our Lady of Holy Cross College for 12 years.

Arrangements are by Sibille, Port Barre.



State psychiatrist


DENHAM SPRINGS -- Services will be Saturday for psychiatrist Dr. Jenaro Gutierrez. He died Feb. 14 at age 79.

Gutierrez practiced general medicine in Cuba for 10 years before fleeing the communist regime.

He was staff psychiatrist at East La. State Hospital for 17 years and had a private practice until age 75.

Survivors include four sons.
