Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon stated that his office is investigating the following incidents:

03/10/11

-Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office received a stolen vehicle report and following a brief investigation deputies charged:

Candice Schwinn, age 22, Petal Road, Egan

Obstruction of Justice and Accessory after the Fact

Bond was set at $1,000.00.

Timothy Lunson, age 35, Pedal Road, Egan

Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle

Failure to Report an Accident

Filing False Report

Bond was set at $7,750.00.

03/09/11

-Theft of a generator from a residence on St. Dennis Street, Branch.

-Mailbox vandalism on Fernest Road near Basile.

-Theft of pipe racks from a well site on Grand Prairie Hwy near Church Point.

-Diesel truck carrying 10000 of diesel was reported on fire near Mowata. Richard, Branch and Mire Fire Departments responded.

-Burglary of a trailer on Hains Road near Rayne.

-Theft of an IESI trash can from a residence on Riceland Road near Rayne.

-Theft of a shotgun taken from a residence on Charlene Hwy near Church Point.

-Deputies responded to a disturbance on Cinnamon road near Iota. Following a brief investigation, deputies cited Rocky Leger, age 32, Ogden Street, Morse for simple battery.

03/08/11

-Deputies responded to a disturbance on Dove Street, Rayne and following a brief investigation charged:

Clarence Arceneaux, age 26 of Dove Street, Rayne.

Domestic Battery 1st Offense. Bond was set at $1,500.00

Tiffany Manuel, age 27 of Dove Street, Rayne

Domestic Battery 1st Offense.

-Theft of gas welder from a residence on Mary Alice Drive near Higginbotham.

-Deputies responded to a disturbance on Eunice Iota Hwy near Eunice and following a brief investigation charged Bryan Quinn Frey, age 21 of Country Ridge, Opelousas with Simple Battery.

-Deputies responded to a disturbance on Wayne Doucet Road near Evangeline. Following a brief investigation arrested the following individuals with Domestic Battery 1st Offense.

Yvonne Doucet, age 44, Wayne Doucet Lane, Evangeline

Dwayne Doucet, age 46, Wayne Doucet Lane, Evangeline

-Grass fire on Hwy 90 West near Crowley. Estherwood Fire Department responded.

-Motor vehicle accident with a deer on Simon Road.

03/07/11

-Justin P. Benoit, age 25, Alexis Road, Gueydan was arrested and charged with speeding 91/45 and careless operation.

03/06/11

-Motor vehicle accident on Beatrice Road near Iota. Brandyn Stakes, Eraste Landry Road, Lafayette, LA was citied for careless operation of a motor vehicle, no proof of insurance and no driver’s license on person. No injuries reported.

03/05/11

The following incidents were reported in the parish as a result of Saturday’s tornado:

-Metal building totally destroyed on Grand Prairie Hwy near Rayne.

-Mobile home damage caused by flying debris on Charlie Arceneaux road near Rayne.

-Damage to roof shingles on a motor home located on Meche Road.

-Patio roof blow off foundation on Grand Prairie Hwy near Rayne.

-Motor vehicle damaged by a trampoline on Meche Road near Rayne.

-Utility poles and lines on roadway near Leger & Ebenezer near Crowley.

-Damage to mobile home roof and flipped camper trailer Charlie Arceneaux Road near Rayne.

03/04/11

-Commercial burglary on Nighthawk Road near Crowley.

-Residential burglary on Falcon Road near Morse.

-Commercial burglary on Berlin Road near Rayne.
