Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley, for Steve Lee Prejean, 60, who died Sunday March 13, 2011, at his residence in Crowley.

Deacon Rodless Leleux officiated for the services.

Survivors include his wife, Irene Meche Prejean of Crowley; two sons, Cartna Herpin of Lafayette, and Chad and his wife, Channon Prejean, of Morse; two daughters, Kristy and her husband, Shawn Simpson, of Eunice, and Kasey and her husband, Micah Gossett, of Crowley; two stepchildren, Bonnie and her husband, Joe Musick, of Forest Hill, and Jason Meche and his companion Liz Freeman of Rayne; two sisters, Mackline Richard of Lafayette, and Ruby Matte of Scott; his brother, George Prejean of Church Point; and  sixteen grandchildren.

Mr. Prejean was preceded in death by his parents, Esteve and Ella Mae Duhon Prejean; his stepson James Meche; and his grandparents.

Pallbearers were Jesse Meche, Chad Prejean, Bracque Herpin, Cartna Herpin, Shawn Simpson, and Malcolm Dupuis; honorary pallbearers were Mike Istre II, Jason Meche, Scott Credeur, and Titus Davis.

Visitation was held Monday, March 14, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until services.

Burial was held in Woodlawn Cemetery under the direction of Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley.
