ST. FRANCISVILLE – Services will be Saturday for civic leader and businesswoman Betty Kendrick Daniel. She died March 24 at age 81.

She and her husband owned Russell Daniel Oil Co. for more than 50 years.

She was a charter member of The Reveliers, past chairman of Audubon Pilgrimage and an active member of West Feliciana Historical Society.

While a student at Southwestern Louisiana University she was captain of The Red Jackets.

Survivors include her husband and three children.

Former LSU prof

BATON ROUGE – Services will be Monday for LSU veterinary professor emeritus Maurice Morrissette. He died March 21 at age 89.

“Poppy” was a World War II veteran of the European and Pacific theaters and former head of the Department of Physiology, Pharmacology and Toxicology at LSU’s School of Veterinary Medicine.

He was among the small group of professors who helped start the new veterinary school.

Survivors include three children.
