The man whose pickup hit Liz Fontenot’s car head-on, killing her, her three children and another woman, was driving drunk.

According to the State Police arrest warrant, David Ryan Leger, 28, of Palmetto had a blood alcohol level of 0.10 percent when the March 13 crash occurred on I-10 in Baton Rouge.

Presumptive evidence of intoxication in Louisiana is 0.08 percent, meaning Leger’s measurement was 25 percent over the threshold.

He and Kelsye Hall, 21, of Baton Rouge were charged in the accident which killed the former Eunice woman and the others.

Leger is charged with five counts of vehicular homicide; Hall with five counts of negligent homicide.

Police assert road rage led to the suspects driving erratically and dangerously, causing Leger’s truck to spin across the median and hit Fontenot’s, which caught fire, trapping the five inside.

Killed were Fontenot, 29; her sons Austin, 3; Hunter, 7 and Keagan 11, and Kimberly Stagg, 19, one of Fontenot’s co-workers at a Prairieville restaurant.

Both suspects posted $50,000 bonds

This guy took innocent lives. He was drunk and was behind the wheel. He should never be released from jail. Let the punishment fit the crime !!!
