Funeral services will be held Tuesday March 29, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at Assumption Catholic Church in Mire, for Susie Mae Cahanin, 80, who died Sunday March 27, 2011 at her residence in Rayne.

Monsignor Russell Harrington Pastor of Assumption Catholic Church will officiate.

Survivors include her two sons and their wives Elton and Kay Cahanin of Mire, and Delton and Anna Lois Cahanin of Scott; her two grandchildren David Cahanin of Mire, and Sheri and her husband Eric Cormier of Lafayette; four great grandchildren Emily Cahanin, Kianna, Patience, and Nadia Cormier.

Mrs. Cahanin was preceded in death by her husband Ernest Cahanin, her parents Jules and Ellina Credeur Thiel; two brothers Harry and Otis Thiel; and her four sisters Oraline Klump, Nita Bertrand, Mary Bertrand, and Icy Frieu.

Mrs. Cahanin’s family wish to express their thanks to Drs. Mammon, and Brierre and staff, Med Source nurses Karen, Lisa, and Giselle, and Heart of Hospice nurse Alice and her cna Gail Zeno, and a special thanks to the residents  and staff of Leisure Lane Apts.

Visitation will be held Monday March 28, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. and Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.

Burial will be held in the Assumption Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne.
