Crowley Gents sweep doubleheader

CROWLEY – The Crowley Gents extended their winning streak to four games by sweeping a doubleheader Saturday at Miller Stadium.

Crowley defeated Northside Christian, 9-6, in the first game and then cruised past Simpson, 14-4, in five innings in the second.

Steven Bertrand earned the victory on the mound against Northside, giving up two runs on four hits and one walk. He struck out thee in four innings of work.

Northside’s Joe Trahan was tagged with the loss after giving up six runs on seven hits and two walks. He struck out two in four innings.

Philip Artall paced the Gents with two hits and two RBI while Mackay Mouton had two hits and one RBI.

Taylor Doughty and Luke Ancelet each had one hit and one RBI and Steven Bertrand, Mickey Morgan and Jude Cradeur each had one hit.

Trahan had two hits for the Warriors while Bradley Ancelet and Cameron Williams each had a hit and an RBI.

Josh Wheeler, Jordan Monte and Jon Riley Mouton each had one hit and Pierce Rivera had an RBI.

CHS’ Blake Thibodeaux was credited with the victory over Simpson after giving up four runs on six hits and four walks. He struck out three.

Thibodeaux also led the Gents at the plate with a 3-for-4 performance that included a double and four RBI. Philip Artall was 2-for-2 with a home run, a double and two RBI and Bertrand had two singles.

Also for the Gents: Doughty tripled and drove in two runs; Kaleb Istre doubled in one run; Nathan Richarad and Luke Ancelet each had run-scoring singles; Chad Hoffpauir had one hit and Brody Deshotel had one RBI.

The Gents will be in action again this afternoon when play host to league-leading Eunice at 6 p.m.

Northside returns to action Thursday when they travel to New Iberia to take on ACS.
