Thibodeaux, a retired state trooper, trains officers of all the parish’s police departments and sheriff’s deputies in the safe use of their firearms.
In addition, on the third Saturday of each month, Thibodeaux leads an all-day course in concealed weapons at the parish firing range.
Before permitted to carry a concealed weapon, participants must qualify with a revolver and a semi-automatic pistol. Thibodeaux also explains the state’s laws regarding weapons.
To earn the right to carry a concealed weapons, applicants must pay $125 for a state permit valid for five years and recognized in 37 states.
