The bride is the daughter of Robby and Deanna Latiolais of Egan. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Kebodeaux of Iota and Mr. and Mrs. Shelton Latiolais of Evangeline.
The groom is the son of Patricia Hoag Semar of Lake Charles and Rusty Semar of Evangeline. His grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Bill Hoag and the late Mr. and Mrs. LeeRoy Semar.
Escorted by her father, the bride was stunning wearing a luxe taffeta strapless sweetheart neckline gown with a corset back closure. The pleat wrapped bodice drops to a ruched bubble pick-up skirt with a cathedral length train. The gown was defined with lace appliques encrusted with crystals, sequins and pearl beads. Her headpiece was a silver headband embellished with crystals and pearls for a subtle sparkle. She had a delicate ivory finger tip length veil accented with crystals and pearls. Honoring tradition, Laurin wore her maternal great grandmother’s gold wedding band on her right hand representing something old, as did several other granddaughters including Laurin’s mother. Her gown was something new; the pearl necklace she wore was borrowed from her maternal grandmother; her garter was something blue and she had a 1986 penny in her shoe.
The bride carried a bouquet of mini calla lilies, white roses, blue sweet peas and hydrangeas. Intertwined in her bouquet was the bride’s sapphire crystal rosary which was given as a gift from her parents. She also carried a lace handkerchief given to her by the groom’s sister.
The bride was attended by her maid of honor, Margaret Waldrep, friend of the bride. Also accompanying the bride were her bridesmaids, Krista Latiolais, godmother of the bride; Jenna Semar, sister of the groom; Ashley Gay, friend of the bride and groom; and Christine Savoie, cousin of the bride. Junior bridesmaids were Calyssa Latiolais, cousin of the bride; Makenzie Gay, goddaughter of the groom; and Kendall Miller, cousin of the bride.
Bridesmaids were enchanting in a strapless floor length gown of navy blue taffeta accented with a ruched bodice and chic lace up backs.
Colby Latiolais, friend of the groom and brother of the bride, served as best man. The groom was also attended by his groomsman Dustin Hebert, friend of the groom; Dustin Semar, brother of the groom; Blaine Gay, friend of the groom; and Christopher Comeaux, friend of the groom.
Flower girl Annie Semar, daughter of the groom, was adorable in an ivory taffeta A-line gown with encrusted beaded lace and rich appliques which adorned the sweep train.
Serving as ring bearer was Ty Semar, godson of the groom. Ushering guests were Timothy Hebert, cousin of the bride and David Ward, friend of the bride. Program attendants were Anna and Emily Semar, cousins of the groom. Assisting with the wedding party at the church were Angela Latiolais, aunt of the bride, and Candy Kidder, cousin of the bride. Serving as gift bearers were Beau Miller, cousin of the bride, and Adam Semar, cousin of the groom. Lectors were Belinda Savoie, aunt of the bride, and Jody Hoag, godfather of the groom. Musical selections were performed by Chad Latiolais and Joe Stemplewski.
The mother of the bride, Deanna Kebodeaux Latiolais, wore a gown of soft rose pink charmeuse satin with an asymmetrical neckline consisting of beaded embellishments. Side ruching flowed throughout the bodice, front skirt and back skirt of the gown. The neckline had a combination of a shoulder strap with a pleated cap sleeve adorned with a crystal broach and the other was completed with a handkerchief cut sleeve. The full length gown fell softly over her silver shoes.
The mother of the groom, Patricia Hoag Semar wore an A-line gown of silver satin with a sweetheart neckline, pleated empire bust line with hand beaded appliques at ruched midriff and a matching short sleeved bolero.
A reception was held at the South Crowley K.C. Hall immediately following the mass. The newly married Mr. and Mrs. Moby Semar danced their first dance to “Let It Be Me” which was sung by the bride’s father, Robby Latiolais. The bride and her father then danced to “My Little Girl” by Tim McGraw followed by the groom and his mother dancing to the “The Perfect Fan” by The Backstreet Boys. The groom and his daughter then danced to “My Girl” by The Temptations. The couple and their guests continued dancing to music provided by Jami Bergeron and the Kickin’ Cajuns.
The bridal cake was four tiers with buttercream icing. Each tier was divided with navy ribbon attached with crystal pendants adding elegance to the confection. The couple’s initials in silver embellished with crystals topped the cake. The bride and groom cut the cake with the same silver cake knife the bride’s parents used for their wedding 30 years ago. Krista Latiolais, godmother of the bride, served the cake.
The groom had a variety of flavored cheesecakes with several selections of toppings that guests could choose from. The cheesecakes were served by his godmother, Wendy Hoag.
After their honeymoon, the couple will reside in Egan.
Prior to the wedding ceremony, a rehearsal dinner was held Friday, Feb. 25 at the home of the bride’s parents. Hosted by the parents of the groom, chicken and sausage gumbo with potato salad was served.
