A baby shower was held Saturday, April 9, 2011 in honor of Mrs. Brandt Daigle of Scott, the former McKenzie Venable. The pre-arrival event was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Weylin (Shannon) Daigle of Rayne, godfather and aunt of the father-to-be.

Maternal grandparents-to-be are Todd and Bridget Venable of Crowley.

Paternal grandparents-to-be are Glenn ad Denise Daigle of Rayne.

Hosting the afternoon courtesy were Shannon Daigle, Janet Pitre, Pam Leger, Cristen Daigle, Jeanne Arceneaux and Da’un Marks.

Guests were served a number of fingerfoods and refreshments including chicken salad sandwiches, marinated cheese, BLT dip, taco salad, shrimp dip, lemon bars, punch and cake.

The refreshment area was decorated with a nautical theme noted with balloons, nautical candy table, and a specially created diaper cake.

For the special occasion, Mrs. Daigle wore a sleeveless navy and white stripe dress featuring an empire waist and zipped bodice. She was presented a corsage of white baby roses and a miniature sailboat.

The maternal grandmother-to-be wore a sleeveless summer dress with lace overlay, while the paternal grandmother-to-be selected a pink and white pants suit featuring a pink linen jacket. Each was presented a shoulder corsage of white baby roses and miniature sail boat.

Approximately 30 guests attended from Rayne, Church Point, Crowley, Lafayette and Houston.

Special guests in attendance included great-grandmothers-to-be, Margaret Poche, Agnes Venable, Jeanette Daigle and Gayle Witherwax.

The new family addition, the first for the couple, is expected to arrive on May 26, 2011.
