According to records, the shooting occurred about 1:30 a.m. on Mathilda Street between Vivian and St. Mary Road in the Happy Hill area.
The victim, shot in the arm, took himself to the emergency room for treatment.
Records say he said two black men wearing black-and-white bandannas were walking westbound. As he approached in his vehicle, the victim said, they asked him for a ride and he said no.
At that point, he said, one of the pedestrians pulled out a small caliber handgun and shot at him.
No other description of the suspects was immediately available. Investigation did reveal bullet fragments in the victim’s vehicle, records indicate.
