PINEVILLE – Jacob Sooter had his live planned -- go to college, play tennis, become a lawyer. But while in college he felt a call to the music ministry, as did the woman who would become his wife. She was studying to be a family counselor.

One result of that is their winning a Dove Award on April 20 for Worship Song of the Year -- “How Great Is the Love” -- which tied with another song for the award.

Sooter and wife Meredith Andrews wrote the song for their church, Harvest Bible Chapel, in Chicago.

But it ended up on Andrews’ album “As Long As It Takes”, which won the Praise and Worship Album of the Year Dove Award.

Sooter’s father Vic is an Alexandria attorney and his mother Molly is a concert pianist. Both are active in community affairs and long-time tennis players.
