On the girls’ side Chelsea Welsh placed third in the discus with a 100-foot and three-inch throw. Overall, the Lady Dogs place 18th with eight points.
The boys meanwhile fared a little better, placing seventh overall with 20 points and qualifying one runner each in the hurdle events. Brandon Fantroy’s 15.36 run during the 110 hurdles was good enough to earn second place and Jarrad “J.P.” Ward’s 41.61 run in the 300 hurdles earned third place honors during the event.
The Class 2A and 1A state final will be held Saturday, May 7 at LSU’s Bernie Moore.
