GONZALES -- Services were April 26 for former state representative and School Board member Emery Villar. He died April 23 at age 90.
Villar was also former director of the State Licensing Board for Contractors and vice president of Louisiana Security National Bank.
Survivors include his wife Winnie and a son.
Former teacher, Melville super
OPELOUSAS – Services will be Thursday for former St. Landry teacher and Melville official Withness Joseph Meche. He died May 1 at age 86.
Meche, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, was a 30-year ag teacher in St. Landry schools and was Melville city superintendent for 18 years.
Survivors include his wife Julia, two sons and three daughters.

Teacher, assistant state super
LAFAYETTE – Services will be Wednesday for former assistant state superintendent of education Joseph Glorioso. He died May 1 at age 94.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Battle of the Bulge in World War II and held the Purple Heart.
Glorioso began teaching at Lafayette High after the war and later became a traveling science teacher for the state.
He helped developed the Head Start program in Lafayette and the Alleman Center for educating handicapped children.
Survivors include a son and two daughters.
