LAFAYETTE – Services will be Tuesday for retired U.S. Navy Capt. and former director of housing at ULL Roland Bienvenue, Sr. He died May 14 at age 93.
Bienvenu, a Naval Academy graduate of 1941, spent World War II aboard destroyers and after the war commanded several ships as well as held duty in the Joint Chiefs of Staff Office at the Pentagon.
He was director of ULL housing for 12 years after leaving the Navy.
Bienvenu was a founding member of St. Edmond Romand Catholic Church and helped develop Rotary Point.
Survivors include four children.

Decorated fighter pilot
LAFAYTETTE – Services will be today for decorated World War II fighter pilot Edward McCarron, Jr. He died May 12 at age 86.
McCarron flew a P-51 Mustang on 51 combat missions over Northern Italy, France and Germany and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.
He was with Lafayette Building Association for a number of years.
Survivors include his wife Lucille, a son and two daughters.
Arrangements are by Martin and Castille downtown.
Bottling company director
LAFAYETTE – Services will be Monday for businesswoman and civic leader Patricia Treadway Smith. She died May 13 at age 82.
She was active for many years in the family business - the 7-Up Bottling Company (now known as Acadiana Bottling) and was on its board of directors.
She served on the board of the Acadiana Symphony and was an avid supporter of UL-Lafayette.
Survivors include four children.
