Former city super

ALEXANDRIA – Services for former city superintendent Don Hair will be Wednesday. He died May 15 at age 76.

Hair, a U.S. Army veteran, was owner of Fox’s Cafe.

Survivors include his wife Ruby and three daughters.

Arrangements are by Hixson Brothers.

First female board member

FRANKLIN – Services for former School Board members Elizabeth Trowbridge will be Friday. She died May 13 at age 95.

She was a former state and Southern Regional tennis champion and was the first woman elected to the St. Mary Parish School Board.

Survivors include two sons.



Ex-Labor Dept. official


LAFAYETTE – Services for former state assistant secretary of labor John Armatta will be Thursday. He died May 16 at age 79.

Armatta, a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, was a long-time employee of the La. Dept. of Labor. He directed the Job Training Program and was assistant secretary under Gov. Dave Treen.

After retiring from state employment, he became a federal wage and hour compliance officer.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, and seven daughters.

Arrangements are by Delhomme.
