Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Floyd E. Gautreaux, 85, who died at Lafayette General Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Vernice Duplechin of Rayne; his daughter, Marie Theresa (Terry) Hartdegen and her husband, Charles, of Lafayette; his two sons, Mark Edward and his wife, Dottie Martin, of Fulshear, Texas, and Richard Gawain of Greensville, South Carolina; three grandchildren, Mathew and Christopher Hartdegen of Lafayette, and Jason Gautreaux of Houston Texas; his sister, Marie and her husband, Les Warren ,of Latham, New York; two stepsons, Karl Henry, of Rayne, and Randy Henry, of Atlanta, Georgia; two step daughters, Connie H. Louvier of Crowley and Mona H. LeBlanc of Rayne; seventeen step- grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie Simon (Mimi) Gautreaux; his parents, Charles and Alice Boudreaux Gautreaux; his four brothers, Charles, Paul, Robert, and Dan Gautreaux; and four sisters, Alice Mae Gautreaux, Una Robicheaux, Rena Bozant, and Bobbie Zaunbrecher.
Mr. Gautreaux was a Veteran of WWII, retired U.S. postal service in Lafayette.
Pallbearers were his two sons, Mark and Richard; his three grandsons, Matthew, Christopher and Jason; and nephew, Greg Gautreaux.
Visitation was held Monday, May 16, 2011, from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until services.
Burial was held in the Fountain Memorial Cemetery in Lafayette under the direction of Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne.
