First female law clerk

BATON ROUGE – Services for Sally Brinkley, the first female federal law clerk in Louisiana, will be Friday. She died May 16 at age 67.

She graduated at the top of her class at LSU Law School and clerked for U.S. District Judge E. Gordon West. During her legal career, she also worked on the staff of U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy.

Survivors include two daughters.

Arrangements are by Rabenhorst.



Chief detective


BATON ROUGE – Services for former chief criminal deputy of East Baton Rouge Parish and decorated Marine Maj. Ralph McCormick will be today. He died May 16 at age 81.

McCormick was a 21-year Marine and veteran of Vietnam. He was a one-time candidate for sheriff and worked with the Capital District Law Enforcement Commission.

Survivors include his wife Lucy and two children.

Arrangements are by Rabenhorst.
