DEVILLE – A Juvenile Court hearing was held Tuesday for a 15-year-old charged with negligent homicide after setting another teenager on fire.

Jared Faircloth, 16, died May 18, three days after being set on fire with a cigarette lighter.

Rapides Sheriff’s officials said gasoline was spilled on him and he was accidently set on fire by the 15-year-old who was taunting Faircloth by waving the lighter at his gasoline-doused clothing.

Faircloth suffered burns to more than 65% of his body, and was airlifted to Baton Rouge General Hospital’s Burn Unit, where he died.
