A Eunice man allegedly sold crack cocaine to the wrong customer, resulting in his arrest on several charges.

Police Chief Ronald Dies said Friday that narcotics detectives bought crack from Steven Gallow, 52, enabling them to obtain a search warrant for his South Beulah street residence.

Executing the warrant on May 25, officers found about 150 crack rocks, 20 bags of marijuana, prescription pills including Xanex and Ecstasy and several hundred dollars cash. Estimated street value of the seized substances is about $6,500.

Dies said Gallow was attempting to conceal the drugs and currency by keeping them outside the residence, hidden under storage buildings, under logs in a wood pile, under leaves and under scrap tin foil in Gallow’s back yard.

K-9 Officer Zeus assisted in finding most of the concealed drugs and cash, the chief said.

“We’re keeping our promise to eliminate the drug problem in Eunice,” Dies said of the departments narcotics division. He said additional arrests are pending.

The City Marshal’s Office and the St. Landry Sheriff’s Office assisted in the Gallow case.

Dies also thanked citizens who have called the department with drug-related information.

“All of it is investigated and sometimes it takes time to work. All calls are kept confidential,” he said.

Gallow is charged with two counts of possession with intent to distribute Schedule I drugs and Schedule II drugs, possession of Schedule IV drugs and transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses.
