Thelma Richard, our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, was born Nov. 23, 1925, and left her Earthly home to meet her Savior at 11:23 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2011, while surrounded by her family in Port Allen. She was 85 and a native of Branch. Until January 2011, she had been an active member of Elizabeth Memorial Baptist Church for many, many years. She leaves a host of family and friends whose lives are much richer for knowing and being loved by her. She is survived by a daughter, Sherrie Richard Cangelosi and husband Joseph "Joe;" three grandchildren, Tammie Hopkins Bergeron, Donnie Hopkins and wife Camisha, and Joseph Cangelosi Jr. and wife Jennifer; seven great-grandchildren, Hannah and Bradley Bergeron, Macie Hopkins, Toby and Brant Hebert, Jordan and J.C. Cangelosi; very special nephew, Geno Richard and wife Darlene; three sisters-in-law, Katherine "Cassie" LeJeune, Freida Lyons and Natalie "Nootie" Quebodeaux and husband Hilton "Chick;" brother-in-law, Gary Richard and wife Yvette; and a host of numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Wallace Noah Richard; mother, Elizabeth LeJeune; father, T. "Tobe" LeJeune; and brother, Jim LeJeune. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the staff of Hospice in His Care, especially Dee, Jackie and Lillie Belle, as well as all those who were supportive in her time of need. Visitation was at Duhon Funeral Home, 900 E. Texas Ave., Rayne, on Wednesday June 1, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. an Thursday, June 2, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with funeral services at 2 p.m. at Elizabeth Memorial Baptist Church in Branch. Burial was held at the Elizabeth Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne.  Condolences may be sent to the Richard family at www.duhonfuneralhome.com.
