Officer appears for felony lineup on drug charge

A police officer charged with a felony drug count went to district court line up Thursday and apparently posted bond.

Details concerning the case to this point are confined to radio log information. Requests for more information have not been answered and the initial incident report was not available as of 2 p.m Thursday.

The officer was arrested Wednesday evening and charged with felony possession of prescription drugs.

According to the radio logs, another Eunice officer obtained permission to search a home on South Second Street and an arrest was subsequently made.

George “Nick” Bergeaux, 24, 631 N. 2nd Street, is charged with possession of legend narcotics.

Bergeaux is a former department jailer and communication officer.
