Mrs. Gabriel Francis Casanova
The bride is the daughter of Danny and Yvonne Menard of Rayne. Her grandparents are Carol and Helen Menard of Rayne, Marth Dupuis of Rayne and the late Ralph Dupuis, Jr. She is a graduate of Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
The groom is the son of Jackie and Amy Casanova of Church Point. He is a graduate of Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and is employed as an engineer at Baker Hughes.
Against a musical background provided by vocalist Valerie Andrus, violinist Tommy Benoit and pianist Clay Boudreaux, guests were ushered to their seats by Rick Zaunbrecher, Peter Boulet and Jake Taylor, friends of the groom.
Scriptures were recited by Gretchen Dupuis and Catherine Faulk. Gifts were offered by Ashton Dupuis and Joe Faulk.
Escorted by her father, the bride was stunning in a Martina Liana, A-lines gown of raw silk. The silhouette featured a strapless neckline with ruched bodice, uniquely twisted and embellished with a crystal broach to the front. The floor-length gown flared into a flowing cascade with layers of tulle, adding fullness to the skirt, and ended in a chapel-length train. To complete her bridal ensemble, she wore a cathedral-length veil and carried a bouquet of purple hydrangea, roses and calla lilies fathered with an ivory satin ribbon.
Traditional items selected by the bride for her wedding day was her mother’s rosary as something old, her wedding dress was something new, borrowed was her mother’s pearls, and her shoes served as something blue.
Attending the bride as maid of honor was her first cousin, Andreé Dupuis.
Bridesmaids were Krystal MLaughlin and Victoria Dupuis, first cousins of the bride; Hillary Menard, sister-in-law of the bride; Shevon Broussard, future sister-in-law of the bride; and Courtney Casanova and Mary-Margaret Gossen, friends of the bride.
Bridal attendants each wore a lavendar dress of crinkle chiffon designed to their own styling while carrying a gathered bouquet of purple and white calla lilies.
Serving as flower girls were Jane Casanova, niece of the groom, and Caroline McLaughlin, second cousin of the bride. Each wore a floor-length gown of ivory satin deisgned with a tulle skirt and carried a pomander ball of purple and lavendar hydrangea.
Attending the groom as best man was his brother, John Thomas Casanova.
Groomsmen were Jack Casanova, Michael Casanova and Will Casanova, brothers of the groom; Adam Menard and Eric Menard, brothers of the bride; and Andre Robichaux, friend of the groom.
Serving as ring bearer was Patrick McLaughlin, the bride’s godchild.
Male attendants each wore a formal gray tuxedo with the lapel noted with a miniature purple calla lily boutonniere.
Immediately following the wedding ceremony, the newlyweds were honored during a reception held at The Crossing at Mervine Kahn in Rayne.
Among the refreshments was the bride’s cake, a unique, round, three-tier beige confection accentuated with cascading rose accents and topped with a rose bouquet. Serving the cake was the bride’s godmother, Trisha Picard.
The groom’s cake was a scrumptuous banana split cake drizzled with melted ganache, accented with chocolate-covered strawberries, and topped with the letter “C.” Cerving the cake was the groom’s godmother, Catherine Faulk.
Following their weddng trip to Riviera Maya, Mexico, the couple will reside in Broussard.
Prior to the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted the rehearsal dinner held Thursday, May 26, at Don’s Seafood, Downtown Lafayette.
